01 / Our roots

Rooted in Oaxaca,
Never ordinary

Canto de Lobo is made in Santa María Albarradas, high in the Sierra Norte of Oaxaca, by the Martínez family: five generations of mezcaleros. Our maguey espadín grows for seven to ten years on volcanic soil at the edge of the cloud forest before it is harvested by hand.

The hearts are roasted in an earthen pit oven, crushed with a stone tahona, fermented with wild yeasts and distilled twice in copper. Nothing added, nothing rushed.
